Mama Mia

December 19, 2008

I am typically opposed to musicals. I find them to usually have just a tad too much singing for me. I’m more of a drama, love and comedy type girl, but without a doubt, I loved Mama Mia. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), a young girl getting married, desperately wants to be walked down the isle by her father.

There is just one glitch, she doesn’t know who her father is and her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep), was with three different guys all around the time that she could have been conceived. The three different guys are as follows: Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth) and Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard).

Sophie decides to fly all three of them out to discover who her real father is, but Donna knows nothing of their coming. She gets all a flutter when she sees all three of them. They do a terrific job of exploring who is the right guy for Donna and who is actually Sophie’s father. Therefore, I cannot give away the ending because it is simply to amazing to give away.

I will, however, tell you that I loved the music and I was literally dancing in the theater when I saw it. Also, my mother who never goes and sees movies went to go and see this movie not once, not twice but three times in the theaters.

This is the main song from the movie. If it doesn’t make you want to get up and dance I don’t know what will.

If you like this movie you will also like the movie Hairspray.  Mama Mia was just released on video. It would be a great gift for anyone who loves musicals.
